Education is one of the most fundamental things needed in creating a better life. It is important for the humankind, especially for people in their golden age. Younger people will replace the elders in the future, and better education for the younger people can make new and better generations of human being due to that.
In this modern era, most people think that education can only be done formally in schools and campuses. Lots of people think that a person's knowledge can only be measured by grades and numbers from scale 1 to 100 or such. More than a half of the countries in this world make their education system based on that though. Young people who attend formal schools are nowadays more focused in increasing their grades at school. Indeed, the better their grades at school, the better job they can get. Therefore, those grades will help a lot. But the matter is that people have slowly forgotten to learn from their surroundings. They have slowly forgotten how to interact with other people in real life. Most high school students spend their time using social medias than meeting their friends directly. Almost all of the discussions and information are done through the internet, which is not a really efficient way for having an appointment done. Teenagers call their parents via mobile phone more often than having direct conversations. Meanwhile, there are lots of things to be explored in the nature, which is not recorded in our wireless gadgets or super smart phone.
What does this have to do with the education? In my opinion, this does have something to do with our education system. Today, high school and college students are more focused in learning something written in books, whether they intend to do that or not. They read, memorize, and try to understand every single word in each book from their schools or colleges. They know and memorize formulas, equations, numbers, letters, and almost all scientific symbols made by famous scientists. Not only that, they can even solve difficult questions using those formulas. But when it comes to real problems of life, a few or even some of these children get confused. They get troubled solving the given "questions". Due to that reason, I'd prefer an education system that also tells the students how to face the real problems in real life. Students should learn how to communicate with other people more, meeting strangers more often, and other things that can only be learned outside the classroom.
Students should spend more time with their family, too. These days, I think that most students leave their home early in the morning and get home very late at night. This includes me, really. After finishing their classes, they have extra lessons and piles of homework to be done. They also need to sleep properly and prepare for the next day. Some students only have one "day-off" per week. In the other hand, they also need time and affection from their parents. They need to learn how to take care and to be taken care of by their siblings and cousins. if they have too much work to be done, they will barely get time to spend with their family. They might only know the world within thick, heavy books, not knowing anything outside their comfort area.
Beside the two important things mentioned before, our education system should pay more attention in things such as fees and costs. Too expensive learning system might give a very large burden for the students, and they won't be able to continue their studies well. Instead of making a better future, it may cause lots of trouble coming up ahead.
Those are the things that, in my opinion, needed to be looked over for a better education system. If there are offensive words or contents, I deeply apologize.
Please let me know what you think about building better education system too. Thanks for reading!
