As for me, I participated in a wondrous event two weeks ago. What was that?
What is Gamarvani?
Gamarvani is an art festival held by SMAN 3 Bandung in Indonesia. SMAN 3 Bandung annually holds a festival each year. This year, SMAN 3 Bandung chose to have one of Indonesia's folktales as its main theme. The tale is about a beautiful woman called Nyai Anteh. In the story, she was described as a maid who worked for a certain kingdom and was friends with the princess. One day, Nyai Anteh met a prince by accident. The prince was supposed to be the princess' husband-to-be, but he fell for Nyai Anteh. So did Nyai Anteh. But Nyai Anteh knew her place. She didn't want to hurt her friend's feelings, so she went away and avoided to make any contact with the prince. Years had passed, and the prince already married the princess. Nyai Anteh also lived her life happily. However, fate put Nyai Anteh and the prince in an unexpected reunion. The prince told Nyai Anteh that he still loved her even though he was already married, but Nyai Anteh refused his confession and ran away from him. The prince was so persistent that Nyai Anteh barely got away. She prayed to God. God heard her, and she was then lifted up to the moon by God.

There are other versions of this legend, but they are all the same in general. Don't you think it's an interesting tale? Well, it is interesting! And Gamarvani, which had the tale as its theme, was also exciting!
What did I do in the event?
Lots of fun things! In the morning, students from SMAN 3 Bandung and elementary schools wore traditional clothes and walked down the streets and highways. The purpose of the activity was to spread the words about our spectacular event and of course, to persuade people to wear traditional clothes more often. I also joined in the parade with my classmates. After the parade, there was a kind of traditional attraction with costumes and all. After all of that, the main event was begun. There were Angklung performance from KPA SMAN 3 Bandung, tradisional songs from various bands and local singers. We also had traditional games such as Boyboyan (a game where two teams fight to build a pile of bricks and to throw a ball to other team's members to win), egrang made of bamboo, and other fun things. Sadida and I played Boyboyan! There were also performances from Hivi! and Adera at night. It was so fantastic and spectacular! Not only students from SMAN 3 Bandung, but lots people came to participate in the event from morning till late.My Gallery of Gamarvani

Ah! Here is a video of Gamarvani in the early morning. It hasn't started, yet there were already lots of people hanging around. There were more people in the evening.
So what do you think? It was indeed an exciting event. I enjoyed every single bit of my moments spent there.
Please look forward into the next spectacular event from SMAN 3 Bandung!
